Community Guidelines

The seven

• Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, threats, hateful attacks or targeted abuse.
• Keep people safe. No child sexual abuse or exploitation, no sexual solicitation of minors, no non-consensual intimate imagery, no encouragement of serious self-harm, no credible violence, no doxxing.
• Do not deceive or exploit people. No impersonation, scams, spam, malware or unlawful transactions.
• Share only content you have the right to share.Respect other people's privacy, copyright and other rights - including anyone else in your photo.
• No illegal gambling or wagering through Rootmates. Accountability pledges must stay lawful, and Rootmates never handles payment between users.
• Report problems. Use Report on a message, a photo, a comment or a profile. Use Block when someone is abusive to you.
• Enforcement. We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend and terminate accounts, based on context, severity and repeat behaviour. Our target is to act on a report within 24 hours.

Child safety standards

Rootmates has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Child sexual abuse material, the sexualisation of a minor, sexual solicitation or grooming of a minor, and any attempt to use Rootmates to reach or harm a child are absolutely prohibited. There is no context in which this is allowed here.

Concretely, that means:

• Rootmates is for people aged 13 and older. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we suspend it and delete it with its personal information.
• Every message, photo, comment and profile in the app has an in-app report action, and every user can be blocked from their profile.
• A report that touches child safety is escalated immediately, ahead of everything else in the queue. We remove the content, terminate the account behind it, and preserve the evidence.
• We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the appropriate authorities and child-safety organisations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable, and we cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
• We do not allow anyone we have removed for a child-safety violation to come back under a new account.

Reports and questions about child safety, including from regulators, platforms and law enforcement, go to feedback@root-mates.com, monitored by Tamir Tzion Heyman, the operator of Rootmates. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

How to report something

In the app: long-press a message, a photo or a comment and choose Report; or open a squadmate's profile and choose Report or Block. You do not have to be the person the content is about to report it, and we do not tell the other person who reported them.
